St. Michael and All Angels

“All night, all day, angels watching over me my Lord” are the words to an old, African-American Spiritual. The hymn reflects a true statement from Scripture that God is always using his angels to watch over us and protect us. These heavenly creatures intervene and actively protect us both physically and spiritually. Like mighty warriors or your own personal body guards these angels have been created by God to care for and defend you.

You probably don’t see many physical traces in your life. They don’t leave a trail of sparkly dust everywhere they go. Every time they intervene in our lives you don’t see a brilliant flash of light. The sound of wings flying through the air doesn’t alert us to their presence.

Yet they are always watching over us. We know they are around us not because they leave some physical trace but because God’s Word tells us they are around us. They are always doing God’s work by caring for his people. They keep us from harm and they keep our loved ones from harm. All night. All day. They watch over and care for us as God’s good servants.

We hope you can join us this Sunday as we remember the historic Christian Sunday of Michael and All Angels. This unique service helps us to better understand the important role angels play in our lives and how God uses them to bring peace to our troubled hearts and to remind us that in this world of sin we have powerful helpers with us always.
