God give us teachings about the last days not so that we can know the future but so that we can better understand that Christ is near. As we near the end of Luke’s Gospel that we have been reading all Summer Jesus’ teachings begin to focus on the last days. He wants his disciples and us to know that even as he will soon be bodily taken from them, that he is still near and all things are for his eternal purposes.
